"Ryland Teifi is a Welsh musician living in Waterford. His new album 'Last of the Old Men' deserves your attention. The upbeat 'Hollow' blends bluegrass and mainstream folk with gutsy vocals, beguiling guitars and (that instrument again) fancy fiddle work from Helina Rees. The title-track initially takes a more laid-back tack, with Teifi's impassioned vocal in even better form. Then the band kicks in and carries it away with admirable gusto on a song that will easily satisfy the Mumfordians amongst us. 'The Window' is a more wistful effort that marries a contemporary feel to a traditional folk bass. Exilarating stuff all round."
